We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our newest brand onboard, Lichtlaerm Audio. And if you aren't familiar with these guys already, you're in for a treat...
Lichtlaerm Audio is based in Germany, where Daniel Ringl combines meticulous craftsmanship, top quality components and a rapid pace of innovative circuit design into an incredibly impressive range of pedals.
As a touring musician himself, Daniel understands the rigours of the road and knows exactly what a pedal needs in order to be durable enough to be thrown into absolutely any situation. All of Lichtlaerm Audio's pedals are therefore built with this bomb-proof, tour-ready mentality in mind.
Daniel's endless creativity has resulted in an ever-expanding range of guitar pedals which provide sonic solutions and plenty of versatility in the studio and on stage. But not content to stop at guitar pedals, Daniel has collaborated with Fane to create a bespoke speaker for his cabinets, and has developed the critically praised Prometheus amp (more below...). He has even organised a music festival!
Lichtlaerm Audio has attracted the attention of guitar players across the world for good reason, and the company's growing roster of artists includes high profile names such as Mick Thompson (Slipknot), Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), Mike Sullivan (Russian Circles), and Marcus Siepen (Blind Guardian).
We are proud to announce that we are now officially stocking a selection of guitar pedals from Lichtlaerm Audio's core range, which covers everything you need from EQs and noise gates, to overdrives, high-gain distortions and modulated reverbs.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Amber Spyglass Studio Grade Hybrid EQ
The Amber Spyglass is a studio-grade EQ solution featuring a 4-band active EQ. Use the independent Mids footswitch to cut or boost your preferred frequency, ideal for transitioning between rhythm and lead lines, or just for a bit of extra chunk in heavier passages. With +16dB of output gain, the Amber Spyglass also works great as a clean boost.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO The Key and The Gate
When you're running lots of gain, a good noise gate is essential to keep everything in check – and that's where The Key and The Gate comes in. It's a very quick-to-react noise gate with a single knob and a 3-way Response toggle. Not content with that solid feature set, Daniel has implemented the "Key", which uses your input signal as a reference for the gating process in order to keep the noise floor really low without any tone sucking or loss of sustain. It's activated by plugging into the side jacks, and can be put to creative purposes.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO .Ritual. Post-Metal Distortion
Influenced by the raucous Proco Rat, the Lichtlaerm Audio .Ritual. was born following a customer request for a pedal that captured the sound of Post-Metal band, Amenra, who gave their official seal of approval to the project once they saw and heard the results. This is the newest version, featuring a sweepable Era mini-pot which takes you from classic "White Face" Rat to a Turbo Rat. There's even a separate Boost, which offers a significant +35dB of output, adjusted via a 3-way toggle to act as a full-range boost, mid-boost, or treble-boost. Nice!
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Aesahaettr Modern Metal Boost
Delivering up to an eye-watering +35dB of clean boost, the Aesahaettr is a modern Metal boost that can easily push a valve amp to its limits, while its parametric low-cut functions up to 1,500Hz, allowing you to dial in thick, saturated drive or classic Treble Booster sounds all the way to super-aggressive modern Metal. A footswitchable 4-band active EQ can cut or boost +/-16dB per frequency range, giving you ultimate versatility when it comes to sculpting your high-gain tones.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Altar MKIII Doom / Sludge Fuzz
Lichtlaerm Audio's earth-shattering Altar MKIII fuzz consists of a high output clean boost and a high-gain fuzz/distortion circuit with added chainsaw magic for a truly exceptional array of sounds. Oh, and don't overlook the internal "DOOM" switch! Loosely based on the Black Russian Big Muff, the Altar MKIII is the perfect weapon for everything from Gilmourish sounds to fat Doom and Stoner riffing.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Gehenna Metal Distortion / Preamp
The Lichtlaerm Audio Gehenna is the German builder's take on a Metal-voiced distortion, providing tons of flexibility ranging from classic NWOBHM to early 2000s Core-music, from raw Black and Death Metal to super-tight and modern Djent - it’s all in there! Designed primarily as a distortion pedal in front of a clean amp, it also works brilliantly as a preamp due to its immense output level and super-flexible 4-band active EQ combined with passive Presence and Depth controls. The Gehenna also has a second, footswitchable Gain control that lets you access two different levels of gain.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Medusa Death Metal Distortion
The Lichtlaerm Audio Medusa is the successor to the HM-2 throne. It's a pedal that has one goal: to crush you with gain. In fact, it provides up to two times the gain and three times the ouput level of the classic chainsaw distortion! But under the hood, the Medusa is a supremely flexible distortion pedal with an active +/-16dB 4-band EQ, Cut control and a built in noise gate – Lichtlaerm Audio's very own The Key and The Gate. There's also a parallel effects loop which allows you to blend in another effect (overdrive or preamp, for example) or leave the loop empty and use it as a clean blend instead. Use the Polarity toggle to flip the phase of the incoming signal.
LICHTLAERM AUDIO The King in Yellow Parallel Blending Overdrive
Many Hard Rock and Metal bands have paired their favourite high-gain amps with a small green overdrive pedal to tighten up the low end response. The King in Yellow is the Lichtlaerm Audio take on that classic - but this is no ordinary TS variant: it features a 4-band active EQ for detailed tone shaping, an internal charge pump which raises the operating voltage to 36V for insane headroom and reduced noise, a parallel effects loop (which, unconnected, works as a clean blend), a three-way clipping selector switch, and triple the output volume of a traditional Tubescreamer!
LICHTLAERM AUDIO Untiefe Multi-Modulation Reverb
If you're after more than your basic reverb sounds, the Lichtlaerm Audio Untiefe has you covered. Its lush, modulated overtones can be used to go from subtle room reverb to washy shoegaze tones, huge synth-like pads and more. Create extreme momentary modulations using the Ramp switch, and replicate freeze-style effects by utilising the SmartRelay footswitching. There's even a built in effects loop which provides the capability to add additional signals to the mix for some really cool textures and modulations.

Picture the scene... you've just spent some time dialling in your dream high gain tone. You've got the amp cooking, stacked the overdrive pedals and achieved that perfect balance between saturation and clarity... but now there is an overwhelming hiss coming from the amp that threatens to derail your tone. What do you do?

Fresh from a successful NAMM ‘25, Daniel was gracious enough to answer some of our questions to help shed a little light on what Lichtlaerm Audio is all about and why we should all be excited to get our hands on the gear!

It's safe to say that the Rat has become one of the most recognisable guitar pedals of all time. Known for its aggressive tone which pairs perfectly with an overdriven amp, every guitar player should try a Rat at least once!
